Film rights to "Not Setsuko" by Mary South go to Element Pictures

Element Pictures has purchased film rights to Mary South’s “Not Setsuko,” from her 2020 collection YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN (Farrar, Straus and Giroux). In this haunting short story, a grieving mother births and communes with a replica of her lost daughter.

Praised by Booker Prize-winning author Douglas Stuart as “one of the most luminous, funny, totally thought-provoking story collections I have ever read,” YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN was most recently a finalist for the PEN/Bingham Prize for a Debut Story Collection.
